I think this show is really hysterical. I love it and I thought it ran for way too short a season. Will it be back? I worry.
That rap about Marilyn and Elvis was scream….and way true.
I have kept every episode on my tivo and regret I accidentally erased the Maya Angelou/ Fat Rapper show. It was wonderful. I think Grier is brilliant.
Except for the (very real) Antoine Merriweather, an astonishing creation gay people loved (I swear I knew that guy in Boston), I had never taken much stock in him before, but I really have begun to think of him as a Jonathan Winters, who totally inhabits a character. Stephanie Weir has that same ability to be in the skin of a creation..
It is odd, I see his new characters and know that I have seen these guys, and women, but don’t quite recall their names…that is a great illusion. Some are classic ghetto people and I have to remind myself that these are David, after all. They are well- fleshed out folks with histories beyond the skits and he seems to take them seriously. It is different from the Dave Chapelle performances, as you can always sense Chapelle, wiinking at you from behind the persona. Grier plays these people for real, and I marvel at his ability with them.
I do hope this show gets renewed; we lose too many good shows before they really got off the ground. I worry that his crack about the whiteness of the writing staff at the Daily Show might have offended Comedy Central. I thought it was funny and it didn’t take from my enjoyment or fandom of that program.

I really enjoyed watching he chocolate news. I like David Allen Grier as a comedian in general and wanted to see more of him and chocolate news made that possible. I really hope the show is brought back…there are too many good entertaining shows that get canceled and talented people who fall by the waste side and David Allen Grier really needs to be seen…and this also goes for Lil Bush…funny as hell
What the hell is wrong with comedy central? I’m still seething over “chocolate news being dropped! This was DAG at his comic best. The show was intelligent (read DAG is one smart cookie) and was just plain funny. I thought comedy is what this network was supposed to be about! Shame on you guys. And, just so you know, I am a white 63 year old male and my peers feel the same way. Kill me now!
