The Essence Music Festival recently released a few of it’s headlining artists, and it looks like this year’s line-up will not leave fans disappointed.
Michelle Ebanks, the president of Essence Communications Inc, and the coordinator of the music festival, recently announced that Kanye West and Mary J. Blige will be two of the main headliners for the show.
Trey Songz and Jill Scott will also be performing, along with other artists who fit into the R&B mold that Essence looks for.
The festival is held in New Orleans, and will be taking place on July 1st and continuing on for three days.
Fans will congregate at the Louisiana Superdome for the 17th year in a row to see their favorite performers, along with some local performers from the area, such as Irma Thomas, Kourtney Heart, and Rebirth Brass Band.
Other artists announced for the line-up include Charlie Wilson, Fantasia Barrino, Boyz II Men, Stephanie Mills, Macy Gray, Dwele, Alexander O’Neal & Cherrelle, Mint Condition, Kelly Price, M.C. Lyte and George Clinton, And Parliament Funkadelic. Essence will announce the full line-up at a later date in time.
