After teen singing sensation Justin Bieber was trumped for Best New Artist at the Grammy awards by relative unknown Esperanza Spalding, some of Bieber’s die-hard fans seemed to feel the need to let Spalding know exactly how they felt about her victory by posting rude and vulgar comments on a small biography about her.
Spalding had gone up against Bieber for Best New Artist, as well as competing against Drake, Florence and the Machine, and Mumford & Sons, all relatively well-known and popular artists.
Spalding secured a shocking win, and Bieber fans around the world were extremely disappointed with the outcome. Some of them went to Wikipedia.com, where they left defamatory messages on the page containing the singer’s biography.
One of the comments said, “JUSTIN BIEBER DESERVED IT GO DIE IN A HOLE. WHO THE HECK ARE YOU ANYWAY?” Another fan, who decided to take the insults to the next level said, “SHE IS F**KING RETARD THAT NO ONE HAS HEARD OF SO B**CH PLEASE DIE!”
After Wikipedia got wind of the new additions, they were taken down immediately, however not before news of the slander had spread across the world.
Who can blame Bieber’s fans? They’re being told the winners of shows like “American Idol’ were the most talented. They are living in a time when computer algorithms and 99 cent phone calls determine who and what deserves the most exposure. They live in times where media personalities say the most foul things about anyone who disagrees with them.
True Dat!
