After being on the market for nearly 11 weeks, Nicki Minaj has finally found herself on the top of the leader-board.
Her debut album, “Pink Friday”, finally made it to the No. 1 slot on the Billboard Hot 200. It was previously No. 3, but sold an additional 45,000 copies and pushed it’s way up to the top this week.
Although those sale numbers are considered low, it’s just another example of the slow record-selling weeks that have been occurring over the last month or so.
Minaj’s album has consistently stayed in one of the Top 10 slots on the Billboard charts, but this was quite a long rise to the top spot—nearly 11 weeks.
When the artist got wind of the new success, she tweeted to her fans, “We finally did it! PINK FRIDAY is the #1 Album in the United States of America!!!!! * faints * thank u soooo much for the continued support.”
Not only did Minaj find herself at the top of the charts this week, but she also broke 1 million sales for her record.
The runner-up in the No.2 spot this week is Red, with their new album “Until We Have Faces”.
