Was Rihanna S&M Video Inspired By David LaChapelle?

We are betting that David LaChapelle was not too pleased to see Rihanna’s latest music video called S&M due to endless similarities the clip contains with his very recognizable work for Vogue magazine.

Many of the photographer and director’s fans have taken to twitter to express their anger and flat out call Rihanna a thief for plagiarizing LaChapelle’s work.

As you can see in the photo montage below, many scenes from the music video are practically identical to some of the artist’s shocking photographs (like the scene where the singer can be seen with a cherry on her head or the press conference piece where the Barbadian star wore a newsprint dress ).

In a bizarre turn of events, staff members who worked with Melina Matsoukas, have revealed that the director had many photos taken by LaChapelle on the set and that she used them for inspiration.

Another strange thing that happened in this whole plagiarism scandal is the fact that Perez Hilton who appeared in the controversial clip jumping on his twitter account to side with LaChapelle and blast Rihanna. The blogger wrote:

‘The next time you make a David LaChapelle music video you should probably hire David LaChapelle.’

Thus far LaChapelle’s reps have not yet commented on the brewing scandal.
