People across South Africa lit up their candles in celebration of the news that Nelson Mandela is in stable condition and taking it easy at home after a very serious respiratory infection which almost claimed his life.
The anti-apartheid hero who is 92 years old stayed in a local hospital for several days to get checked out and doctors said that he was well enough to go home but needed to be under constant care and supervision.
He lives in Johannesburg and is being looked after by a nurse until the infection completely subsides.
The people at Regina Mundi Catholic Church which is located in the township of Soweto held a candlelit vigil for Mandela, praying for a full recovery and it seems as if their prayers were answered.
Pastor Ndaba Mazabane who is at Rosebank Union Church, only two kilometers from where Mandela lives, also prayed for him to return to good health. Many people in the area are thankful of his stabilizing condition and they are glad to have him back in good health.
Although Mandela isn’t completely healed yet, he is out of the woods with the infection.
