Willow Smith Annie Movie Remake: Jay-Z/Will Smith Producing New Film

Pint-sized singer Willow Smith has recently announced that she will be starring in the title role of “Annie”, which will be a film remake of the hit Broadway show that began in 1977.

Smith is the daughter of powerhouse couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith, both of whom are helping to produce the film along with rapper and mega star Jay-Z.

Jay-Z recently made an announcement about the new film, saying, “The Overbrook Entertainment family and I have a unified vision.

We’ve already produced a Tony Award winning play and we’re developing a true superstar in Willow.” Last year, the group put together a show called ‘Fela!’, which performed on Broadway for quite a long time, and was then nominated for 11 Tony Awards.

The small, but rising star, has also been signed to Roc Nation, the record label owned by Jay-Z, and is getting ready to release her first studio album after her debut single “Whip My Hair” became a massive hit.

The president of Columbia Pictures, Doug Belgrad, recently said, “The time is right to bring back ANNIE to the big screen. Of course, we’re true believers in Willow’s talent and believe she will be perfect in this role.”

  1. This is the most stupidest thing I have ever heard of. I mean come on who ever heard of a black Annie. Ever since the very first comic strip came out Annie has been known for her red hair….RED HAIR people!! Besides that fact what exactly is Will Smith teaching his kids? That you don’t have to work for anything in this world because daddy will just hand it over to you on a silver platter. Why not make them try out for the part with other hard working actors & actresses? Not cool Will, not cool at all.

  2. first the karate kid now annie. you go will smith. how about will knows the truth about hollywood and for his kids to get certain roles he makes it happen for them. black kids don’t get that many roles so if he can make some for his kids good for him. i love it.

  3. Was there even an audtion ? if not what about all the talented black kids are out there that won’t get a chance to audition and dont have father who is so big in Hollywierd

  4. When will Wil Smith do something that has NOT a remake of something that had already been done? A BLACK remake of 10 Commandments coming soon as it looks if Wil can’t find writers with something original for his kids to remake. Daddy Smith makes another Men in Black and kids play white roles. If Wil has a set maybe some day he and his kids will take a chance on something original.
