Popular video sharing WorldStarHipHop.com has been out of service for most of Monday January 24th, 2011.
According to reports the site has been shut down by the Department of Homeland Security and ICE aka Immigration Customs Enforcement for allegedly sharing files illegally.
Rumors are also flying around that 50 Cent who has been feuding with the website over a lawsuit filed in 2009 for copying his site thisis50.com might be behind the termination of the site. But a rep is singing another tune.
Miatta David, who is a epresentative for the urban site, told MTV News just moments ago:
“WorldStar was not shut down due to Homeland Security or ICE, the site is just experiencing technical difficulties. It’s just an overload on the site due to traffic.”
While David has been on a media tour dispelling rumors, the rapper has taken to Twitter to confirm that he is the one that shut down the site. He tweeted:
“I don’t know why people underestimate me. I just shut down WorldStar. For future advertising contact thisis50.com suckers.I put WorldStar to bed, you don’t believe try me and I will shut your sh– down. Lol. I predict two more web sites will shut down this week. Take a guess who they are. I’m sick of the hate. I’m too strong.”
The rapper added:
“Me and @FloydMayweather don’t’ think WorldStar was [a] good representation of black people as a whole. We will present better. I want to thank Howard Gordon and the good folks over at homeland. hahaha suckers your move.”
WorldStar’s founder Lee “Q” O’Denat replied:
“We didn’t get the memo that 50 shut us down … “
