One of President Obama’s daughter’s, Sasha, is currently learning Mandarin in school at the age of just 9.
The nurturing father did his best to give Sasha the opportunity to practice her Chinese with China’s president Hu Jintao.
The Chinese practice session was done after the state dinner which was in Hu’s honor. Bed Rhodes who is a national security adviser to the White House stated that President Obama did in fact indicate that his daughter had been learning Chinese and added:
“Not every [child] has the opportunity to try out their first phrases of Chinese with the president of China, but she had that chance.She’s under 10 years old and they’re studying Chinese, and she wanted to have the chance to practice her Chinese with President Hu.”
Sasha, Jackie Chan, Barbra Streisand, were among the long list of guests at the ceremony which was put together to honor Chinese president Hu at the White House on Thursday night.
