Former bassist for Lauryn Hill, Dewey Tucker, was viciously murdered nearly a year ago. Just recently, four men were arrested and charged in conjunction with his death, and will soon be facing trial for the horrendous crime that was committed against Tucker.
On January 12, 2010, in Oakland, California, Tucker was found in his car, slumped over the wheel with a gunshot wound to the head.
The police called the murder a “horrendous case of mistaken identity” and believe that the 24-year old was on his way to practice when a group of men mistakenly thought that he was a member of a rival gang.
The authorities believe that Tucker was then followed and shot on the highway by Raul Vega, 19, Hector Barragan, 28, Christopher Mancina, 29, and Javier Lopez, 20.
The four men arrested in conjunction with the death are currently being charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, murder for the benefit of a gang, and use of a firearm that resulted in death. All four the men have plead not guilty to the charges.
Tucker’s fiancée, Breana Whitney, recently said, “Today is filled with sorrow but a little bit of relief that these people are off the streets and can’t harm anyone else’s family.”
