After a comment that DJ Cipha Sounds of Hot 97 made about not sleeping with a Haitian woman because he wanted to avoid AIDS there has been uproar from the entire Haitian community.
The DJ is currently sitting in the hot seat and facing a lot of angry people who claim that what he said on the air was an extremely discriminatory remark. Luis Diaz who has the alternate persona of “Cipha Sounds” has made a comment that hinted at the fact that he believes all Haitian women have HIV.
Although a number of people thought that his partner said it at first, it was quickly discovered that Diaz was the one who made the comment.
The DJ ended up apologizing on-air after the station received a number of calls about his comment regarding Haitian women. He said that he was sorry and did not mean to offend anyone listening, including those who are of Haitian descent.
He conceded that the joke that he made was both “stupid and tasteless” and that it was completely taken the wrong way.
His apology which sounded sincere managed to put an end to the huge number of calls that began flooding in after the initial discriminator comment was made.
