Rapper 50 Cent is now facing a lawsuit over his hit song “I Get Money”, by a 28-year old rapper who has recently claimed that the beat for the song was his originally, but was stolen by 50 Cent after he realized how profitable the song could be.
Tyrone “Caliber” Simmons is from Atlanta, and he is claiming that he purchased the license for the version of the song that was simply instrumental. Because of this, the beat cannot be used without his consent, as that is copyright violation.
The attorney for Simmons, Louis D. Tambaro, said, “The misappropriation of copyright-protected material is an endemic problem in the music business, and particularly in the genre of hip-hop/rap.
The is one such case. Our client was granted exclusive rights to the ‘I Get Money’ instrumental and was unceremoniously cut out of the loop when the defendants realized they had a huge hit on their hands.”
Besides 50 Cent, there are a few others who are being named in the lawsuit, including Aftermath Entertainment, G-Unit, and Shady Records. So far the amount that Simmons is going after has not been released yet.
They both need to pay Audio2 who did the original song! “The Audio 2 the 2 Audio I got a brother and his name is gizmo!”
