Oprah Winfrey recently gave a revealing interview to Barbara Walters and addressed her opinions and views on the rumors that she is a lesbian, as well as partner Steadman Graham.
The special was an hour long, and broadcast throughout the United States, and showed Winfrey in a more vulnerable place than many fans have ever seen her.
When Walters asked her about Graham, Winfrey replied that he was “still the man, the lover, the man, the partner, the mate.” When Walters continued on to ask her about whether she regretted the choice she made not to have children of her own, Winfrey replied, “I believe it is the way it is supposed to be.”
Winfrey was asked plenty of personal questions, including ones about her relationship with her father and mother. She said that she felt her relationship with her father was “fine”, however she did not feel any sort of closeness with her mother.
When Winfrey asked her about her best friend Gayle King, Winfrey paused for a moment before beginning to tear up.
She finally answered, “She is the mother I never had. She is the sister everybody would want, she is the friend that everybody deserves.”
