Sean Bell Wrongful Death Settlement

Sean Bell Wrongful Death Settlement – “The Children will be okay, and that’s the main thing.” The settlement that was received in the killing of Sean Bell is fair, according to Nicole Paultre-Bell’s mother, Laura Paultre.

The deal, which was first announced on Tuesday, followed a four year battle which was waged by Bell’s family after police fired 50 bullets at him and two other men, taking the life of the young groom who was unarmed at the time. Joseph Guzman, 35, who was a friend of Bell’s, was shot 11 times and will receive $3 million in the settlement. Trent Benefield, 27, was hit three times and will receive 900,000.

Bell’s family will receive $3.25 million, which should be more than enough to take care of his family for the rest of their lives. There is nothing that can be done to bring Bell back, but the family is happy that the city did right by giving them enough money to support the family.
Bell was leaving his bachelor party with two friends when two undercover cops unloaded their weapons on him. He was in a car at the time, and the officers had mistakenly thought that someone inside the car had a gun and were afraid that they were going to be shot.
The incident was very controversial, and many said that the 50 shots that were fired by police officers were far too many. It also led to many changes in the NYPD.
