Wyclef Jean President of Haiti? – Wyclef Jean, former Fugees leader, is planning to run in the November presidential election in Haiti. In a statement released Tuesday, Jean, very popular in his country, for the first time seemed to confirm the rumors of a political run.
The statement read : “Wyclef’s commitment to his homeland and its youth is boundless, and he will remain its greatest supporter regardless of whether he is part of the government moving forward … If and when a decision is made, media will be alerted immediately.”
The rapper has until Aug. 7 to file paperwork. There is no doubt, of course, about his commitment to the country where he was born, but one can question the ability of the artist as to run a country.
Hopefully he knows what he is doing, Haiti certainly does not need another catastrophic political leader.
