Tiger Woods Earnings 2010 – Tiger Woods has taken a loss after his incident in his SUV, and consequential public lashing after the world found out how many women he was having an affair with, but still he tops Sports Illustrated’s list of richest athletes. According to the magazine, he earned over 90.5 million in endorsements in the last year, which was nearly $30 million more than the next highest paid athlete, Phil Mickelson.
LeBron James fell to number 4 on the list, and Alex Rodriguez was fifth, with a salary of $33 million and another $4 million in endorsements. Rodriguez could make much more if he took some bigger endorsements. Derek Jeter received $21 million, ten of which came from endorsements and fell to the number 8 spot on the list. There are five Yankees on the list, Rodriguez, Jeter, Sabathia, Teixeira and AJ Burnett. They certainly do play their players well.
Both of the Manning brothers, Peyton and Eli, who came in at number nine and thirteen on the list, are getting paid handsomely as well. While many athletes earn the bulk of their money from their sport, a good percentage of them earn most of their money from endorsements. Tiger Woods earns most of his money from endorsements. It will be interesting to see if his endorsement money shrinks in the coming year. The list is only for the top 50 American athletes, so all of the names are recognizable, but do not count names like Roger Federer and David Beckham.
