Alicia Keys Zulu Ceremony For Unborn Baby Blessing – Alicia Keys recently announced she was pregnant with the baby of her fiancé, Swizz Beatz. Keys is reportedly around 5 months pregnant, and joined her fiancé for an outdoor blessing near Durban last week. The two of them wore tribal attire during the blessing, and Alicia and her baby were both given Zulu names in the ceremony. During the event, they were asked to stand under a fig tree. In Zulu culture, the fig tree possesses healing powers that bring good fortune and health to those who are blessed beneath it.
Keys, 29, had the ceremony performed by elder females of the Zulu nation on Wednesday. She had been in South Africa to headline the World Cup Kick-off concert in Johannesburg. She wore a red sarong and a leopard print sash during the ritual.
Reportedly, Keys had been chosen to receive the blessing after she had done some work for a local children’s charity. She paid the workers for the charity out of her own pocket.
“Two female priests who practices a mix of Christianity and tribal customs chose new names for her and the unborn child, as a mark of respect. The names were kept between them, but were chosen to reflect Alicia’s character,” said the director of the Bobbi Bear charity, Jackie Bradfield.
With a baby on the way, Keys needs all of the blessings that she can get. Her soon-to-be husband Swizz Beatz, is currently in a legal battle with his ex-wife Mashonda, who recently publicly released a letter to Alicia Keys detailing her heartbreak after Swizz left her for Keys.
A Zulu blessing is wonderful. I hope Alicia doesn’t suffer as her boyfriends exwife did. Often men who jump from woman to woman continue to do so. I wish them the best and also peace to Mashonda who needs to move on with her life and stop publicizing her woes.
I wish Alicia and her boyfiend well and a healthy baby.
