Lakers Win NBA Championship 2010 – Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers are officially the champions of the 2010 NBA Playoffs. The team, which was playing from behind against the Boston Celtics for most of the game, was able to secure their victory by going to the free throw line throughout the entirety of the fourth quarter, not allowing the Celtics to have many opportunities to score. By all accounts, the game was very sloppy, and was mostly a defensive battle. The Lakers controlled the boards, while the Celtics were the better shooting team, but because they were not securing as many rebounds, they were unable to leave the Lakers in their dust and secure the title.
The tenacious defense was hard fought, and the refs let the players play hard throughout the course of the game, not calling that many fouls in the first three quarters. The Lakers were able to grab 53 rebounds, while the Celtics were only able to grab 40. Both teams shot poorly. The Lakers were only able to connect on 32.5 percent of their field goals, and the Celtics were only able to make 40.8 percent of their shots.
This is the 17th time that the NBA Finals have progressed to the 7th game. All but five of those games have included the Celtics and the Lakers playing one another.
