USC Football Sanctions Reggie Bush Old Team – Athletes at the University of Southern California may be defecting in the coming weeks and months in the wake of a number of sanctions that were placed on the program recently. The declaration that the NCAA had suspended the organization from taking part in any bowl games over the course of the next two years is an announcement that did not come lightly.
The NCAA conducted an investigation into the program after allegations arose that the school had provided Reggie Bush with a place to live and money. Some claim that the allegations that were made against Reggie Bush are for ulterior motives, but that does not change the fact that there was truth to the rumors. Apparently, the NCAA did not like what they found in the investigation because the program will be banned from bowl game appearances until 2012, and was also forced to relinquish their 2004 National Title championship as a result of the investigation.
While they have not entirely addressed the issue, USC officials are likely going to respond to the decision in the coming days. Former coach Pete Carroll released a statement on YouTube shortly after the announcement, saying that the question was never whether or not it happened, it was whether or not the school was aware that the activity was taking place. Carroll went on to say that the NCAA and USC need to work together to do what is best for the kids who are going to school there. If nothing is done to change the situation, a number of players will likely defect to other schools. This move comes on the heels of coach Lane Kiffin leaving Tennessee after one season as their head coach to go coach at the more prestigious USC.
