T.I. On Larry King 2010 – Since his arrest for weapons charges, rap artist T.I. has been fairly open about his experience that landed him in prison for nearly a year. Shortly before heading to prison, T.I. released an album that was noticeably more grown up from his previous efforts, stating that he had learned his lesson and that the actions that he took were not worth the consequences in the end. However, he has never been as open about the incident as he recently was with Larry King in a Thursday night interview.
“The main thing I can do to protect myself in the future is to understand my position,” Tip said. “I can’t put myself in an environment where it will require me to have a handgun. I just stay places where I can be cool. I have security now…I take full responsibility for everything that happened to me. I’m a full believer that your life is what you make it. Society doesn’t owe you anything.”
T.I. had been sentenced to a year and one day in prison after an incident in October 2007 in which he was caught illegally attempting to purchase firearms. He was released in December to an Atlanta halfway house, where he remained until his release in March.
