Just Wright Movie Review – “Just Wright,” is a formulaic sports romance that is actually quite an entertaining watch despite the number of cliches that are contained within the movie.Queen Latifah plays the full figured Cinderalla in the movie, and is an unmarried 35 year old physical therapist and huge New Jersey Nets fan named Leslie Wright. Leslie had had a number of problems meeting men that were to her liking. She attempts to win the affection of one basketball player played by rapper Common, but eventually loses his heart to a conniving childhood friend of hers named Morgan. While Morgan dresses up and dolls herself up for the net games, Leslie is more of a tomboy and opts to wear a Nets jersey.
Leslie actually accidentally meets her prince, Scoot McKnight, at a gas station after the game. When Scott can’t find the gas gap on his new car, Leslie shows him and invites him to her birthday celebration. It was here that she makes her mistake, as she decides to invite along Morgan, who throws herself at Scott, hooking him on her before playing hard to get.
The movie was predictable, in the fact that although Leslie is not even in his eyes in the beginning, Scott slowly learns who the real love of his life is and decides to leave Morgan behind and confess his love for Leslie. The movie is predictable, but does carry a few twists that will likely keep your interest through the duration of the movie.
