Usher Leads Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart – Usher Leads Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart – R&B singer Usher scored his ninth No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart Thursday, as “OMG” jumped five places to the top.
Usher’s reign stretches back to “Nice & Slow,” which ruled for three weeks in February 1998. His last number one was “Love in This Club,” from back in 2008. The new tune, featuring Will.I.Am of the Black Eyed Peas, sent B.o.B’s “Nothin’ on You” to No. 2 after two weeks at No. 1.
Meanwhile good news continues for the star, as Usher has been honored for his business and charitable efforts.
The “OMG” singer was named the Ford Freedom Award Scholar for being part owner of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers, and for his work as a youth mentor for the New Look Foundation.


“Something inside of me wanted to mentor youth, like myself. Kids who were maybe not as likely to succeed,” the 31-year-old Usher said at the 12th annual Ford Freedom Award ceremony in Detroit on Thursday.
In related news, during a recent interview with Vancouver’s Metro News, the pop star talked about how the music business has changed in the way people consume music due to the new era of internet.
“The music industry has changed a lot since I started. Today, you can listen to any album for free online or even download them illegally. Only real enthusiasts still continue to buy albums, because they know that the sound is better, that you will have pictures or art and that you can support your favorite artist this way.”
