Joe Bryant Advice To Kobe

Joe Bryant Advice To Kobe – Kobe Bryant had a surprise visitor on-hand at Tuesday night’s playoff game against the Oklahoma City Thunder, and it may have been the boost he needed to up his game.
Joe Bryant stopped by the Staples Center to watch his son play for the first time in five years. And like any papa who knows his son’s game best, he had some fatherly advice to give the 4-time NBA champion.
Before the game, the elder Bryant told Kobe to “Make a damn free throw.”

And Kobe did as he was told. The Lakers star player hit 13 of 15 free throws in the Lakers’ 95-92 victory against Oklahoma City in Game 2 of the first-round playoffs.
Joe Bryant also told Kobe not to worry about his offense; concentrate on defense “until the offense come along.” Kobe’s defense wasn’t spectacular Tuesday, but his shooting looked better than it had in weeks.
Bryant, who had been slumping at 30.3 percent from the field, shot 12 of 28 from the field and scored a game-high 39 points to help the Lakers take a 2-0 lead over the Thunder, according to the LakersFreedomBlogging.com.
“You miss shots, you make shots. Just play defense to keep yourself in a game,” Joe Bryant said. “The offense is going to come back.”
Joe Bryant said he prefers to watch Kobe from afar in the comforts of his home “because I like to curse, I can eat popcorn in my teeth without cameras in my face, no reporters. I’m happy at home.”
Joe has been coaching overseas in Japan and Italy for the past two seasons, and since the international league runs the same time as the NBA, he rarely gets a chance to watch the Lakers in person.
Sounding a bit giddy about his dad’s appearance, Kobe had a flashback to his younger days. “I felt like I was back in high school,” Kobe said of having his dad in the stands.
