Gilbert Arenas Mother Mary Francis Robinson Dies – Gilbert Arenas is already facing a difficult week ahead as he awaits his sentence for a felony gun charge on Friday. Now, The Washington Post is reporting that the estranged mother of the controversial NBA player has died.
Reportedly, the suspended Washington Wizards guard didn’t know his mother, Mary Francis Robinson, had passed away on March 13 in Miami, until days later. Arenas was raised by his father, Gilbert Arenas Sr., and only met his mother once. The star athlete is said to be distraught over the loss and has paid for the funeral, according to reports. The cause of her death is unknown.
Before the infamous locker room gun incident, Arenas appeared to be thriving on the court, averaging over 22 points and 7 assists per game. In a recent interview with Esquire Magazine, Arenas detailed the card game spat between him and teammate Javaris Crittenton, admitting it was a prank that went horribly wrong.
With the uncertainty of possible prison time, Arenas can only be hoping things soon turn around in his favor.
