TV personality Star Jones is recovering after undergoing heart surgery at a New York City hospital last week.
Doctors say the cardiac procedure is a follow-up to a previous surgery Jones had after developing a thoracic tumor 30 years ago. The former talk show host was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, March 17. She is now recuperating with her loved ones after a successful operation with no complications, reports PR-Inside.com.
A statement from her rep on People.com reads, “On Wednesday, March 17, a pre-planned cardiac surgery was performed on Star Jones. This recent surgery is a follow-up to the thoracic surgery she had 30 years ago. The procedure was successful and she is recovering well with her family. Star is grateful for everyone’s thoughts and prayers.”
In August 2003, the former “View” co-host had gastric bypass surgery and subsequently lost 160lbs.
Earlier this week Jones was in good spirits, tweeting, “It’s clear that God is trying to tell me something & I plan to listen. My birthday is in 10 days, so I’m giving myself a special gift.”
Jones will celebrate her 48th birthday March 24.
