Tyler Perry Ga. Senate Honor Postponed – Madea is being honored for her sharp-tongue. The pistol-packing grandma can thank her creator for his hard work in bringing the character to life.
Media mogul Tyler Perry will be recognized by the Ga. senate at the state Capitol for his achievements as an entertainer and humanitarian, making him the first celebrity to be honored in the chamber this session. The 40-year-old is a New Orleans native but has been residing in Atlanta for many years.
Five state senators will present the resolution to Perry, citing his “Madea” character, his creation of Tyler Perry Studios as the first independent movie studio of its size in the state of Ga., and his donations to local food banks and various charities, reports The Associated Press.
In related news, Perry is set to pay Oprah a visit along with Janet Jackson to promote their new movie “Why Did I Get Married Too,” which hits theaters on April 2nd. Jackson will be performing her new single “Nothing” on the show, which serves as the centerpiece of the film’s soundtrack, according to HelloBeautiful.com. The track was produced by the pop diva’s on-again off-again boyfriend, Jermaine Dupri. The episode will air during the last week of March – a few days prior to the movie’s release.
The sequel to “Why Did I Get Married?” featuring all the same cast members, including Janet Jackson, Jill Scott Tasha Smith; Tyler Perry, Malik Yoba, Lamman Rucker and more, brings us the next chapter in the lives of eight college friends struggling with challenges of marital life. Gathered together in the Bahamas for their annual one-week reunion, four close couples reconnect, sharing news about their lives and relationships. But their intimate week in paradise is disrupted by an unexpected guest, aiming to get his ex-wife back. The film is written, directed and produced by Perry.
